About Richard Amoroso
Richard Amoroso brings unparalleled audition expertise as a member of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1998, combined with 25+ years of coaching violinists to orchestra positions nationwide. With solo appearances at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and performances with major orchestras, his insider knowledge gives members the decisive advantage needed to win competitive orchestra positions.
Richard's students consistently perform well in auditions and secure positions in professional orchestras across America. His own Philadelphia Orchestra journey began at age 13 when he won their student concerto competition, and he now plays a rare 1765 Nicolai Gagliano violin—combining historical expertise with contemporary audition requirements.
Richard also has had an extensive teaching studio for the last 25 years. His students have gone onto receiving scholarships at major universities and conservatories as well as winning orchestral jobs around the country. Richard's journey with the Philadelphia Orchestra began age 13 when he performed as soloist with the Orchestra.
